Founded in 2003 by Maestro Stefano Giaroli in order to enhance young musicians mainly from Emilia Romagna, the Orchestra is currently characterized as one of the most lively and dynamic Italian orchestras , and includes, among its ranks, prominent members who collaborate with prestigious national and international orchestras (Orchestra of the Teatro Alla Scala in Milan, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Orchestra of the Teatro Regio in Turin, RAI National Symphony Orchestra of Turin, "Arturo Toscanini" Philharmonic, Orchestra of the Municipal Theater of Bologna, Arena of Verona etc.).

It is the official orchestra of the opera productions of Fantasia in D and over the years it has acquired a vast operatic repertoire, ranging from almost all of Verdi's operas to all Puccini, from Italian Mozart operas to Carmen, from Rossini's comic operas to including the most significant Italian realism. In the repertoire there is no lack of less performed works such as Werther by Massenet and Adriana Lecouvreur by Cilea.
